PITTSBURGH – Allegedly faulty airbags and claims of fraud and unfair trade practices violations are at the center of a handful of plaintiffs’ lawsuit filed against Subaru of America Inc.
Lorri L. Briggs, Lisa DeHaven, Carrie Johnson, Ellen Rydbom, Eric Tetuan and Michele Vorbergerin seek class action status in their March 27 filing in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
They alleged the 2019-2013 Subaru Foresters, 2010-2014 Subaru Legacies and the 2010-2014 Subaru Outbacks the class purchased had faulty airbags that were all later recalled. Even further, after a company called New Motors replaced the airbags, the plaintiffs allege they were informed that the company “compromised retaining tethers on the A-pillar trim."
They go further and accuse Subaru of failing to do what was needed to make things right after finding out about New Motors’ alleged actions.
The plaintiffs say they’ve experience pecuniary loss so their cars could be inspected and fixed properly, as well as stress and anxiety.
They’re suing for fraud on class and individual claims, unfair trade practices and consumer protection law, and want relief through an order that declares the class, along with financial damages.
The plaintiffs are represented by Kurt D. Mitchell of the KDM Law Firm of Tampa, Florida.
