PITTSBURGH — An Allegheny County auto dealership that has suffered business losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic is suing its insurance carrier over denial of its claim.

Bowser Automotive Inc., filed a complaint April 28 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Chubb Group of Insurance Companies and Federal Insurance Company alleging violation of Pennsylvania law.

Bowser alleges in its complaint that it has an "Custmarq Classic" Insurance policy issued by the defendants with coverage from Nov. 1, 2019, through Nov. 1, 2020, which covers losses, damages and expenses due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The dealership claims they have been forced to close new and used car sales and have faced a drop in parts, service and body shop business due to the Coronavirus.

Bowser seeks monetary and all other appropriate relief. They are represented by James Haggerty of Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith PC in Philadelphia; Scott Cooper of Schmidt Kramer PC in Harrisburg; John Goodrich of Jack Goodrich & Associates in Pittsburgh; and Jonathan Shub in Philadelphia.

Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County case number GD-20-5272
