PITTSBURGH — An employee of a pediatrics practice is suing the manufacturers and delivery service of a medical grade refrigerator after allegedly suffering a concussion when the door of the refrigerator fell off.

Ruth Potter filed a complaint April 28 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Thermo Fisher Scientific LLC and Omni Logistics LLC alleging negligence.

Potter was working as a nurse coordinator at Children's Community Pediatrics in Wexford on July 8, 2018. She alleges that when she went to remove the tape and open the door to the new pharmaceutical-grade refrigerator manufactured by Thermo and delivered by Omni, the door came off the hinges and struck her in the temple. Potter claims she suffered temporary vision loss, a concussion and other injuries.

Potter seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by John Goodrich and Lauren Nichols of Goodrich & Associates PC in Pittsburgh.
