Steptoe & Johnson PLLC issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.
Steptoe & Johnson PLLC has added two attorneys to its Business Department. Nelson H. Crichton and Endia J. Vereen will practice temporarily in the firm’s Southpointe, PA, office until the opening of the firm’s Pittsburgh location this fall.
“As preparation for our new Pittsburgh office continues, Steptoe & Johnson has been assembling a team of attorneys focused on meeting the needs of current and future clients in the area,” said firm CEO Christopher L. Slaughter. “Nelson’s and Endia’s knowledge of transactional law, working alongside clients in many different industries, will add critical know-how to the talented team we have assembled.”
Crichton represents regional and national financial institutions involved in commercial transactions. He has completed transactions for expansion, operating capital, and acquisitions for industries including manufacturing, health care, and real estate. He also represents lenders in structuring, drafting and negotiating of loan documents connected with New Market Tax Credit projects. Crichton led a team of attorneys and paralegals at a previous firm who were responsible for due diligence reviews and loan document preparation.
Crichton is a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine Rising Star. He earned his law degree and bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.
Vereen is experienced in multi-million-dollar transactions for a diverse array of industries including health care, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and manufacturing. She provides support for mergers and acquisitions through due diligence, drafting, and negotiations. Her work has involved transactions for public and private companies, both national and global. She also assists companies with day-to-day matters including entity selection, formation, and organizational planning.
Vereen was named a Best Lawyers: One to Watch for 2021 in Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Law, a distinction given to attorneys who are early in their careers and have exhibited professional excellence. Vereen earned her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh where she was senior editor for the student commentary section of Legal News, the world’s only law school-based online legal news service. She earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh as well.
