PITTSBURGH – The owner of a building in the middle of the Borough of Trafford is suing it, claiming it took a $20,000 bond for sewer repair and never gave it back.
Lanalex Cloud sued Trafford and other officials in Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas earlier this year, and the defendants in September removed the case to U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
The lawsuit says Lanalex was forced to pay a $20,000 bond to buy the “Bank Building” – a three-story brick structure on Cavitt Avenue in the center of town.
The bond was to be held until Lanalex completed sewer repair, which it says it did.
“Despite Lanalex’s repeated demands, Trafford has refused and failed to return Lanalex’s bond,” the suit says. “Trafford never provided Lanalex with an explanation for Trafford’s refusal to return the bond or an opportunity to be heard.”
The company says it needs its money back to continue developing the Bank Building.
