Lawsuit filed over Norfolk Southern employee's fall down bank

PITTSBURGH – A Norfolk Southern Railway employee says the company failed to give her a safe place to work, leading to a 2017 injury.

Amanda Pecora filed a lawsuit Sept. 15 in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas that says she was braking her train to prepare it to be loaded when the hand brake malfunctioned.

This caused her to have to apply more force to the brake, but the steep and loose ballast beneath her feet gave out, and she fell down a steep bank, the lawsuit says.

She injured her neck and right shoulder, she says. She makes her claim under the Federal Employers Liability Act. Her lawyer is Mark McKenna of McKenna & Associates in Pittsburgh.
