Troutman Pepper client Olympus Corporation, a leader in bronchoscopy systems, medical technology and therapeutic intervention, has acquired Veran Medical Technologies, Inc. (VMT), a top provider of advanced medical devices specializing in interventional pulmonology. The acquisition will be implemented through the Olympus subsidiary Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA).
Founded in 1919, Olympus focuses on devices in the gastroenterological endotherapy, urological and respiratory fields. With the acquisition, the company aims to strengthen and boost research and development and product offerings within its already robust portfolio of respiratory devices.
Troutman Pepper partners Matt Greenberg, Nilu Shaikh, and associates Brandon Raphael and Shane Nelson counseled Olympus on the deal, which will increase patient access to revolutionary care and improve peripheral lung cancer awareness, screening, diagnosis and treatment. The transaction is the latest in a series of strategic acquisitions designed to strengthen Olympus’ position as a global leader within the medical technology landscape.
