Steptoe & Johnson PLLC issued the following announcement on Feb. 1.
The law firm of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC has named Jon C. Beckman the managing member of its Meadville office. Beckman will oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the office in addition to maintaining his legal practice.
“Jon is a skilled attorney and capable leader who has demonstrated a commitment to the firm, his clients, and his colleagues,” said Steptoe & Johnson CEO Christopher L. Slaughter. “He was a natural fit for the role of managing member.”
Beckman joined Steptoe & Johnson in 2013. His legal practice focuses on the areas of energy and natural resources law, environmental litigation, and alternative energy. He also has experience representing clients faced with mineral title disputes over ownership, royalties, and leasehold issues. Beckman is a former combat trauma specialist for the Pennsylvania Army National Guard who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a member of Steptoe & Johnson’s Veterans Inclusion Council.
“I’m excited to take on this new opportunity and humbled that Steptoe & Johnson’s leaders are confident in my ability to take on this role,” said Beckman. “Our Meadville team is very special and put our clients first in everything they do. I am honored to work with them each day and look forward to serving in this new capacity.”
Steptoe & Johnson opened its Meadville office in 2010 when it was joined by the law firm of Culbertson, Weiss, Schetroma and Schug, P.C. The opening of the Meadville office marked Steptoe & Johnson’s first expansion into Pennsylvania to meet the needs of its energy clients in the Appalachian region.
