Truck driver who fell in loading dock seeking restitution from Plainville Farms

HARRISBURG - A commercial truck driver from Wheeling, Ill., filed civil charges against food manufacturer Plainville Farms on Feb. 18 after he says he slipped at a Plainville loading dock and sustained injuries, according to court documents filed in Harrisburg federal court.

David Sandroian was delivering six pallets of pork to the Plainville Farms distribution center in New Oxford when a facility employee overseeing the loading dock asked Sandroian to assist with securing the cargo from the trailer, the lawsuit says.

When Sandroian stepped down from the trailer, he allegedly slipped on melting ice from refrigerated trailers on the loading dock floor, sustaining multiple injuries including fractures and contusions.

The suit says that there were no cautionary signage or warnings to indicate to the plaintiff that the loading dock floor would be slick.

Sandroian is suing for one count of negligence exceeding $75,000 in restitution, and his spouse, Iuliia Sandroian, is suing for one count of loss of consortium also exceeding $75,000.

The plaintiff is represented by Rosen, Varsek and Rosen, of Oil City.
