PHILADELPHIA - A Catasaqua individual sued the stain and surface preparation manufacturer Rust-Oleum after products used by the company allegedly spontaneously combusted and started a house fire, according to documents filed in the LeHigh County Court of Common Pleas earlier this year.

Plaintiff Ning Haas was performing property renovations in August 2020 and used the Rust-Oleum/Varathane Wood Stain in hallways and rooms.

According to the lawsuit, a fire broke out at the property, as a result of the products being used at the property.

Haas sued Rust-Oleum for one count of strict liability, one count of negligence and one count of breach of implied warranty. The plaintiff is seeking more than $75,000 in damages for each count.

Haas is represented by Luca Levine LLC. The defendant removed the case to federal court on March 5.
