MEDIA - A Coatesville business owner sued a Newton Square couple after their dog allegedly bit him at their home, according to court documents filed Jan. 20 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas.

Plaintiff Benjamin Griffin is the owner of Home Energy Comfort LLC, and was visiting the home of defendants Eric and Fottfam Labouff in Newton square for a weatherization estimate in June 2019.

Griffin alleges that the Labouffs said their dogs would be secured before he arrived and while he was there. However, while the plaintiff was inspecting the home's basement, an unsecured pit bull ran down the stairs and mauled him, leaving deep severe gashes on his arm, the lawsuit said.

Griffin had to be treated at the emergency room.

The defendants are sued with one count of negligence, one count of negligence per se, and one count of loss of consortium. The plaintiff is seeking at least $50,000 in damages.

Griffin is represented by Richard B. Bateman of Media.
