Cambria County faces discrimination charges for firing 911 dispatcher that claimed offensive behavior

State Court
911

PITTSBURGH - Cambria County is called to federal court after allegedly discriminating against an employee based on her sex and race.

The complaint was filed by plaintiff Christy L. Janciga in early May in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Janciga worked for the county beginning in December of 2019 as a 911 dispatcher.

Janciga alleges that the county fostered a hostile work environment on a regular basis through racial harassment and sexually explicit comments.

Janciga reported the offensive behavior by her peers to her superior, but says that nothing was done and was allegedly instead told that she was "just not tough enough for a job like this."

After repeatedly reporting her coworkers' behavior, the plaintiff says she was terminated on April 1.

The defendant is charged with race harassment, sex harassment, race retaliation and sex retaliation.

The plaintiff is represented by Johnston Lykos, LLC of Pittsburgh.
