PITTSBURGH — A woman claims she was severely injured when a rack with books fell on her at a Dollar General store in Frederick Town.

Shelia McConn filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Doug Rollins, Dollar General Corporation, Square Foot Company LLC, Square Foot 1 LLC, Square Foot L LLC and Square Foot NC LLC alleging negligence.

According to her complaint, McConn was at the Dollar General Store on National Pike in Frederick Town on March 27, 2020. She alleges that as she took a book from the center of a book case, the books fell on her when the rack became dislodged and caused her to suffer injuries.

McConn specifically claims her injuries included "partial bursal surface and articular surface tears of the supraspinatus tendon, underlying tendinosis of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons." She alleges the defendants were negligent for failing to inspect the shelves in the store, failing to provide "adequate safeguards" or warn of the "foreseeable defective, dangerous and unsafe conditions."

McConn seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Marc Simon of Simon & Simon PC in Pittsburgh.
