Woman slips at Split Rock Resort, hits head on concrete wall

Federal Court
Hammer gavel

SCRANTON — A couple are claiming negligence against Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony after the wife slipped and hit her head on a concrete wall while entering the restroom.

Julie Carro and Joseph Carro filed a complaint May 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Split Rock Resort, alleging negligence.

The plaintiffs allege in their complaint that while at the Split Resort in Lake Harmony on May 19, 2019, Julie Carro slipped and fell on an "unknown liquid substance" that was on the floor while entering the bathroom.

Carro struck her head on a concrete wall, fell backwards and landed on the floor with her shoulder hitting the concrete and "felt paralyzed from the shock and pain," according to the complaint. The plaintiffs further allege that Carro was taken to Wyoming Valley Medical Center by ambulance and was diagnosed with a contusion of the scalp, shoulder and injury to her spine and has undergone treatment for headaches, loss of balance, vision problems and other "traumatic brain injury-associated symptoms."

The plaintiffs claim the defendants failed to properly inspect and maintain their premises, failed to give sufficient warnings or barricade or block off the area that presented a hazard.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief or more than $75,000, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Attorneys Tobias Millrood and Michael Daly in Conshohocken.
