SCRANTON — A woman claims Montage Mountain Resorts employees instructed her to disembark from a chair lift ride when it was not safe and caused her to suffer severe injuries.
Anita Soto filed a complaint May 19 in the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County against Montage Mountain Resorts LP and M.M.R. General Contracting LLC alleging negligence.
Soto claims in her suit that she was at the Montage Mountain Resorts in Scranton on July 5, 2019. She alleges that while attempting to get to the resort's "Zip-Line" using the "ski-lift styled chair ride," resort employees "instructed and forced" her to leap when it was not safe and caused her to suffer "severe and serious personal injuries."
Soto claims the ski lift was being operated "at an unreasonably fast speed" when she was instructed to get off and that the disembarking area for the ski-lift was dangerous and staffed with "inadequately trained" and "inept" workers. Soto further claims the defendants were negligent for failing to provide "a proper level of supervision" at the ride and for failing to warn of the hazard or provide adequate safety instructions for disembarking the ride.
Soto seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Attorney Dee Mandarino in Middletown, New York.
