McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC labor and employment attorney Denise Elliott will present on the landscape of medical marijuana in the workplace at a Human Resource Professionals of Central PA meeting on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Elliott will provide an overview of the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act, with a specific focus on the provisions of the Act related to the workplace and use by employees. She will review court decisions addressing the rights of employees to use medical marijuana and will use those decisions to highlight what employers should do to ensure workplace safety while avoiding lawsuits.
Elliott practices in the McNees Labor and Employment Practice Group, where she focuses on defending self-insured employers in workers’ compensation matters and providing representation and counsel to clients in employment discrimination litigation; ADA/FMLA compliance; drug and alcohol issues in the workplace; and health and safety. She is certified as a specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Law Section. Elliott is a frequent writer and speaker on the topic of medical marijuana in the workplace.
