Blank Rome Welcomes New Commercial Litigation Of Counsel in Pittsburgh

Blank & Rome LLP issued the following announcement on Sept. 8.

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to welcome Edward B. Gentilcore as of counsel in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group in Pittsburgh, PA, where he will focus his practice on construction law and complex commercial litigation.

Ed previously served as the executive vice president, chief legal officer, and secretary at Michael Baker International and has an extensive background practicing law at Am Law 100 firms, including Duane Morris LLP and Reed Smith LLP. At Blank Rome, he will bring that background in construction litigation, construction contracts, alternative project delivery, green and sustainable building, and mechanics' lien matters to further enhance the firm’s growing service offerings and capabilities in this space. His counsel spans a wide variety of projects, including steel mills, power plants, sports facilities, airports, educational buildings, mixed-use developments, water and wastewater infrastructure, transportation, and renewable energy.

He also provides client representation and case management in complex litigation, arbitration, mediation, and appellate proceedings, as well as extensive in-house experience in matters involving corporate oversight, litigation management, contracting, employment and labor, insurance, ethics and compliance, cybersecurity, and property matters.

Ed is a long-standing member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Construction Law and currently serves on the Forum’s Governing Committee in addition to serving as chair of its Marketing Committee and as an active member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. He is also the past chair and a founding member of the Allegheny County Bar Association's Construction Law section. Ed is an Accredited Professional with the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (commonly referred to as LEED AP) and co-chaired the drafting of the first published Green Building Addendum with ConsensusDOCS. He has been highly ranked and recognized in legal surveys and publications, including Martindale-Hubbell, Pennsylvania Super Lawyers, and Best Lawyers in America, which previously named him a Lawyer of the Year for Construction Law in both 2014 and 2018 and Construction Litigation Law in 2016 for the Pittsburgh Region. 

Ed is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, cum laude, Order of the Coif, and The Order of Barristers, and his B.A., cum laude, from University of Pittsburgh, where he was also a member of the Law Review and served as its business editor.
