MEDIA — A woman is suing a nail salon in Chester after suffering a burn and other injuries from the ultraviolet light equipment.

Yvette Chanel Smith filed a complaint alleging negligence on Aug. 30 in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County against Cathy's Nail Salon, Cathy's Nails and John Does 1&2 alleging negligence.

Smith alleges in her complaint she was at Cathy's Nails on Avenue of the States in Chester on Sept. 17, 2019. She claims that the defendants negligently operated an ultraviolet light which caused her to suffer an infection on her toe and a burn injury that required medical treatment.

Smith further claims the defendants failed to properly monitor the temperature of the ultraviolet light and that Cathy's Nails failed to properly train and supervise its employees or provide a safe environment. She alleges the defendants also failed to warn of the dangerous condition or ensure its employees had proper certification to operate the ultraviolet light equipment and devices.

Smith seeks monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Andrew Smialowicz of Clearfield & Kofsky in Philadelphia.
