Real Estate and Project Finance Attorney Richard A. Fineman Returns to Ballard Spahr

Ballard Spahr issued the following announcement on Oct. 12.

Richard A. Fineman—an attorney with nearly 30 years of experience handling complex, large-scale projects bridging real estate and finance work—has rejoined Ballard Spahr, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today. He will be based in the firm’s Philadelphia office.

Mr. Fineman is a member of both Ballard Spahr’s national Finance and Real Estate Departments and the firm’s multidisciplinary P3, Energy, and Project Finance practice group.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rich back to the firm,” said Dominic J. De Simone, Co-Chair of the firm’s Finance Department. “He is a long-time friend, colleague, and collaborator who is ideally suited for this critical role, which will combine his extensive real estate and finance experience to serve clients across a wide range of project finance, P3, and real estate development projects on a national scale.”

In addition to his extensive experience counseling a broad range of clients across various sectors in general real estate matters (including development, finance, acquisition, leasing, condominium, and distressed real estate), Mr. Fineman is particularly known for his cross-disciplinary skill set in coordinating, structuring, negotiating, documenting, and administering the real estate and project finance components of multi-faceted, large-scale development projects, including military housing, student housing, renewable energy, stadium, port-related, and privatization projects.

“One of our most important strengths is our ability to help clients through every step of a project. Rich has sat on many different sides of a project, and that’s a perspective clients are going to appreciate,” said Amy M. McClain, Chair of Ballard Spahr’s Real Estate Department.

Mr. Fineman is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, a frequent speaker and author on both finance and real estate topics, and previously held leadership roles with the American Bar Association and served as an adjunct professor at Temple University Beasley School of Law.
