Federal Court
Courtgavel333

PHILADELPHIA — The manufacturer of a cap-lining machine has been sued, as a man alleges he suffered serious injuries to his hand due to a defective design.

Mark Heymann filed a complaint Dec. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against MMC Packaging Equipment LTD alleging products liability.

Heymann alleges in his complaint that on Nov. 24, 2020, he was at his place of business at National Novelty Brush Company in Lancaster. He claims that as he was operating a cap-lining machine designed, manufactured, assembled, marketed and sold by the defendants, his right hand contacted the moving and exposed belt.

Heymann alleges he suffered "permanent traumatic" injuries to his hand including an open fracture of his index finger and loss of tissue and function. He further alleges his injuries were the result of the machine's defective design and manufacture and that he was also suffered lost earnings, emotional and psychological pain.

Heymann seeks monetary relief of more than $75,000, interest trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Daniel O'Brien and Russell Lieberman of White and Willaims LLPMMC in Philadelphia.
