Woman says foot bath gave her third-degree burns

State Court
Generalcourt4

PITTSBURGH — A woman alleges she suffered third-degree burns on her feet from a pedicure foot bath machine.

Keisha McBroom filed a complaint Dec. 2 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Wachsmuth and Krogmann, Inc., and Tamara Martin alleging products liability and negligence.

McBroom, according to her suit, was using the defendant's Visage Foot Bath with heat on Jan. 30, 2020, while getting a pedicure from Martin. She claims that when she removed her feet from the bath, the water had become too hot and caused burns on her feet.

McBroom further claims she suffered bi-lateral third-degree burns and required skin grafts on both her feet. She alleges the defendant's foot bath continued to heat the water to the point that it became unsafe and that there should have been a safety device to prevent the heater from heating the water if the product malfunctions.

She also alleges Martin deviated from the warnings for the instructions for the product and disregarding the product's warnings which negligently put her customers at risk.

McBroom seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by David Brumfield of Alpernschubert PC in Pittsbugh
