Suit: Golf club's failure to block off dangerous hill caused golf cart accident

PITTSBURGH — A golfer alleges a golf club's failure to block off or warn of a dangerous hill on the course caused his golf cart accident.

Michael Noppe and Rosemarie Noppe filed a complaint Nov. 18, 2020, against Grand View Golf Associates, LP doing business as Grand View Golf Club alleging negligence and other claims.

Noppe, according to his complaint, was playing golf on June 28, 2020, at Grand View Golf Course in North Braddock and driving a golf cart provided by the golf club. He claims that as he drove the cart down a hill, the golf cart began to slide and turn sideways and that the brakes were insufficient to stop the cart on the steep slope.

He further claims the cart slid and turned sideways, accelerated, overturned and caused him to be thrown to the ground. Noppe alleges that the Grand View failed to display any warning to not travel off the cart path or travel down the hill and that the golf cart's GPS unit turned off the golf cart as he tried to drive the cart down the hill. He also alleges the grass leading to the hill had been mowed and that there were "visible tracks" from other golf carts, so he was led to believe the hill was safe to be traveled on in the golf cart. Noppe claims he suffered an ankle fracture, sprain, injury to his shoulder, abrasions and other injuries.

Noppe seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Erin Rudert of Ainsman Levine LLC in Pittsburgh.
