PHILADELPHIA — A Filipino male claims he suffered discrimination and retaliation while working for the Philadelphia School District.

Joseph Rausch filed a complaint Jan. 3 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Philadelphia School District alleging Title VII violation and other claims.

Rausch began working as a food service manager for the Philadelphia School District in September of 1998, according to his complaint. He claims he filed a federal lawsuit against the school district in 2018 due to being subjected to ongoing harassment and discrimination because of his national origin.

Specifically, he claims he faced a "disproportionate" number of compliance visits at Felton Hill Intermediate School, received unjustified discipline and wasn't provided proper supplies and equipment to perform his job. He further claims he was denied opportunities for advancement and was subject to a hostile work environment which caused him to suffer loss of earnings, emotional distress and other damages.

Rausch seeks monetary relief of more than $150,000, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Kevin Lovitz of The Lovitz Law Firm PC in Philadelphia.
