PITTSBURGH — A woman who allegedly fell at a public park in Allegheny County while attending a wedding reception and suffered injuries is claiming the county's negligence.
Karen Carr filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Allegheny County alleging negligence.
According to Carr's complaint, she was attending a wedding reception at the Rose Barn in the North Park public park in Allegheny County on Oct. 3, 2020. She claims that as she left the rear door of the facility and stepped down onto the sidewalk, she lost her balance, fell forward down the ramped sidewalk, landed on the concrete and suffered a fracture of her left hip and leg.
Carr alleges her fall was due to an unexpected landing with a downward slope on the sidewalk surface. She further alleges Allegheny County, which operated and maintained the facility and park, was negligent for failing to repair or correct the dangerous condition.
Carr claims Allegheny County also failed to install a handrail or other measure to eliminate the danger.
Carr seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Richard Joyce of Joyce & Bittner in Pittsburgh.
