PHILADELPHIA — A former Fulton Township worker alleges he faced age discrimination.
William Taylor filed a complaint March 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Fulton Township alleging violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
Taylor, a 60-year-old male, worked for Fulton Township from May of 1977 through January of 2020, according to his complaint. He claims that he worked as a laborer, was promoted to supervisor/road master and then went back to his former laborer position when his supervisor term ended.
Taylor further claims when he returned to his position as laborer, he faced age discrimination. He alleges that he was placed "on call" for urgent matters and that on Jan. 18, 2020, he never received a call asking him to report to work. He further alleges that when he finally learned he was needed, his Township vehicle was not at the defendant's shop which made him incapable of performing his job duties that day.
Taylor claims he was abruptly fired the following day and attempted to show his supervisor his phone records showing he never received the call to report to work, but the supervisor refused to review the records or allow him to correct the misunderstanding. He claims the defendant's actions were all based on discrimination against him due to his age.
Taylor seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Sidney Gold of Sidney Gold & Associates PC in Philadelphia.
