LANCASTER — A man who was allegedly injured when debris from the ceiling above his bed fell on his head at a Red Roof Inn in Lancaster is claiming negligence.

Dietrick Lewis filed a complaint April 21 in the Court of Common Pleas for Lancaster County against Red Roof Inn, John Does 1-3, Blue Stars Hospitality LLC and Red Roof Inns Inc., alleging negligence.

Lewis, according to his complaint, was a guest at the Red Roof Inn on Lincoln Highway in Lancaster on May 17, 2020. He claims that suddenly and without warning, ceiling debris from above his bed fell on his head and caused him to suffer injuries. He alleges the defendants' negligence for allowing a dangerous and defective condition to remain, failing to inspect its premises and for failing to repair the defective condition.

He further alleges the defendants knew or should have known of the hazard, failed to warn of the dangerous condition and for not properly maintaining the premises. Lewis claims that as a result of his injuries, he has incurred medical expenses, suffered impairment and lost wages in addition to suffering from physical pain. He also claims the defendants failed to act with due care for the safety of its guest or those on its premises.

Lewis seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Jared Zafran of The Law Office of Jared S. Zafran LLC in Philadelphia.
