Partner Rachael Bushey, chair of Troutman Pepper’s nationally recognized Health Sciences Department, has been named among The Legal Intelligencer’s “Most Effective Dealmakers” as part of the publication’s 2022 Professional Excellence Awards. The award recognizes dealmakers who “get repeat business for how they achieve their clients’ goals so that both sides sign on the dotted lines.”
Bushey was specifically recognized for her achievements in life sciences over the past year, including her representation of Century Therapeutics in what was one of the most significant IPOs in the biotech sector. She also was celebrated for her work on behalf of Renovacor, an early stage biotechnology company pioneering AAV-based gene therapies for devastating cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases; Cognition Therapeutics, a leading clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company; and the Center for Breakthrough Medicines (CBM), an innovative cell and gene therapy focused contract development and manufacturing organization.
Known for her extensive knowledge of, and expertise in, life sciences legal matters, Bushey has advised some of the most successful and cutting-edge life sciences companies and biotech startups in the United States. She advises clients in connection with a variety of capital markets transactions (IPOs, follow-on offerings, PIPEs, RDOs, and private placements); Securities Exchange Act work; mergers and acquisitions; complex divestitures and carve-out transactions; corporate governance; and licensing and collaboration agreements. She also regularly counsels boards of directors and senior management on a wide range of corporate governance and compliance matters.
