PITTSBURGH — A worker alleges the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's negligence after falling down an underground storage tank.
Raymond R. Kolacek filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission alleging negligence.
According to his complaint, Kolacek was at the mile marker 5.3 on the PA Turnpike in Pittsburgh while working for GAI Consultants, which was contracted to inspect an underground storage tank. He alleges that while inspecting the underground tank, there were no steps or ladders to descend into the tank, so he had to step on a piece of conduit.
Kolacek claims the conduit became loose and caused him to slip and fall six feet. He further claims the defendant was warned by GAI of the dangers of not having any stairs on the tank and that additional safety equipment was needed to inspect the tank. Kolacek alleges as a result of his fall, he suffered a fracture, blunt force trauma, aggravation of his degenerative disc disease, bruises and other injuries which required extensive medical treatments.
Kolacek seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Emerald Williams of Woomer & Talarico in Pittsburgh.
