PHILADELPHIA — A CBS Philly producer is alleging the station violated the Equal Pay Act and that she faced retaliation for reporting the violation.

Lia Rosalsky filed a complaint May 25 in Harris County District Court against CBS Broadcasting INC., doing business as CBS Philly alleging violation of the Equal Pay Act and retaliation.

According to her complaint, Rosalsky has been employed by CBS Philly since 2013 and in 2018 began working as a "casual" writer/producer. She alleges the defendant has a "tiered system" for producers which includes "full-time producers" and "casual producers" which is discriminatory against women.

Rosalsky claims casual producers are almost exclusively women and are subjected to "significantly" worse conditions, less pay and lack of benefits, raises, consistent schedules and transportation reimbursement for doing equal work to full-time producers. She further claims casual producers' work requires equal skill, effort and responsibility as full-time producers and that she often has more responsibility as full-time producers especially during weekend shifts.

Rosalsky alleges that she was continually passed over for promotions to full-time producer and after complaining to the general manager about the unequal pay, she was given worse shifts and singled out to work in-person during the pandemic.

Rosalsky seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Noah Cohen of Weir Greenblat Pierce LLP in Philadelphia.
