PITTSBURGH — A mother claims her minor son tripped over a broken clothing rack at a Target store in Homestead and suffered lacerations to his fingers.

Jamaka Murray, individually as parent and natural guardian of Jeremiah Fuller-Murray, a minor filed a complaint May 10 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Target Corporation alleging negligence.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, they were at the Target store on Waterfront Drive in Homestead on June 2, 2021. They allege that while walking through the clothing department, Jeremiah tripped over the base of a clothing rack which caused him to grab onto a nearby shelving unit to break his fall.

The plaintiffs claim Jeremiah suffered severe lacerations on his fingers from the shelf, was taken to UPMC Children's Hospital and required about 20 sutures. They allege Target's negligence for failing to provide a safe walking area, allowing the hazardous clothing rack to be in the walking area and failing to barricade the area or warn of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiffs also allege that Jeremiah continues to suffer from loss of sensation in his injured fingers and that they have incurred significant medical expenses as a result of the accident.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Robert Daley, Kirstin Kennedy and Elan Pringle of Robert Peirce & Associates PC in Pittsburgh.
