PITTSBURGH — Penn Allegheny Health System medical professionals are being accused of failing to properly diagnose a patient's mass which led to the spread of his cancer.
William K. Faulk and Kimberly A. Faulk filed a complaint June 17 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against West Penn Allegheny Health System Inc., individually and doing business as Allegheny General Hospital, Christopher T. Conti, M.d., Amy Trinh, D.O., and James Devlin, M.D., and others.
According to the plaintiffs' complaint, William Faulk was seen at Penn Highlands Dubois for an appendicitis. They allege Faulk underwent a CT scan of the abdomen which showed the appendicitis as well as a mass on his kidney "concerning for malignancy." The plaintiffs claim that the incidental finding of William Faulk's cancer went unaddressed by his health care team for seven months.
They further claim he was not properly apprised of his cancer diagnosis and that the lack of follow-up from his health care team caused his cancer to spread.
The plaintiffs seek monetary, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Rudolph Massa of Massa Butler Giglione in Pittsburgh.
