Lawsuit: Hotel guest fell backwards onto another guest while pulling luggage

Lawsuits

LANCASTER — A hotel guest is claiming negligence against another guest who allegedly fell backwards into her while pulling her luggage through the hotel entrance.

Judy Gibson and Douglas Gibson, Sr., filed a complaint July 13 in the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County against Robin Vance and Victoria Clark alleging negligence.

Judy Gibson, according to the plaintiffs' complaint, was walking from her vehicle to the front entrance of the Best Western Plus Revere Inn in Paradise on Aug. 1, 2020. They claim that as the defendants were pulling their luggage behind them and as they exited the automatic doors of the Inn, they came to a stop. They further claim that Vance and/or Clark took a step or two and lost their balance and fell directly into the back of Gibson.

The plaintiffs allege that Gibson hit the ground and suffered serious injuries including a tibial fracture. The Gibsons claim the defendants' negligence for failing to "walk reasonably" as to not cause another person injury and failing to pull their luggage as to not cause injury to others.

The Gibsons seek monetary relief of more than $50,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Wesley Addington of Katherman, Briggs & Greenberg LLP in York.
