History Makers and Innovators: The American Lawyer Industry Awards Finalists Announced

Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates C.J. Fisher, who was named a Young Lawyer of the Year finalist by The American Lawyer. The firm is also a finalist in the Best Use of Technology category.

In an announcement highlighting the program’s honorees, The American Lawyer says it aims to “not only honor inspirational work in our storied lifetime achievement and attorney of the year categories, but to celebrate ways in which the profession is innovating and better meeting client needs.”

As Co-Chair of Fox’s nationwide Gaming Department, Fisher is at the forefront of the expansion of legalized and regulated sports betting and iGaming in the United States, regularly handling licensing, compliance and regulatory matters in jurisdictions across the country.  His notable representations include serving as U.S. gaming and regulatory counsel to Sportradar, Authentic Brands Group (owner of the Sports Illustrated brand), Mojo Interactive Inc., MGM Resorts International, Sports IQ Analytics, Inc. and Yahoo! Sports.

The firm’s Knowledge Management and Innovation Team, led by Chief Knowledge and Innovation Officer Catherine M. Monte, is recognized for harnessing cutting-edge AI technology to build a consistent and reliable matter classification scheme, a critical foundation for generating meaningful analytics to assist the firm in staffing, pricing and experience.

The firm is already realizing potential benefits from the new system to advance its strategies in both the practice and business of law, including:

  • gaining insight into the nature, composition and trend in matters handled;
  • identifying areas of experience and laying the groundwork for more advanced analytics that can be used for forecasting and risk management;
  • easily finding comparable matters for analysis when creating pricing or fee arrangements;
  • and helping to create development plans, identify growth opportunities and ensure equitable distribution of meaningful work.
The matter classification system was developed in partnership with HBR Consulting, which provides law firms and corporate law departments with strategic guidance, operational improvement and technology solutions that drive innovation.

The winners will be announced during The American Lawyer Industry Awards gala in New York City on November 10.
