Fox Rothschild Welcomes Intellectual Property Partner Kathleen Johnson in Exton

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome Kathleen Johnson to the Exton, PA office as a partner in the Intellectual Property Department.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kathleen, whose strategic mindset combined with a background in engineering allows her to provide holistic guidance to clients in the management of their intellectual property assets, particularly those operating in the manufacturing process, industrial design, medical device and financial data analytics industries,” said Samuel W. Cortes, Fox’s Exton Office Managing Partner.

Johnson is a registered patent attorney who advises clients in a full range of intellectual property areas, including strategy, acquisition, counseling and litigation. She assists clients in the acquisition of trademarks and patents, protection of trade secrets and copyrights, licensing of intellectual property and management of IP portfolios. She prepares and negotiates complex intellectual property licenses, including agreements for commercial databases, co-branding and supply agreements. She also performs patent infringement and patentability analyses and conducts IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Johnson has defended clients against claims of patent infringement before the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as claims of misappropriation of ideas and trade secrets before the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Before entering the legal profession, Johnson was a project engineer focused on the design, renovation and testing of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment and utilities for use in blood plasma fractionation, production of live-virus influenza vaccines and packaging of OTC solid dose acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

She earned her J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School and B.A. in English and B.A.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Fox, Johnson was an attorney at Troutman Pepper.
