Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that our firm's Finance, Restructuring, and Bankruptcy practice group was presented with the "Restructuring of the Year ($100MM to $250MM)" award, as well as the "Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year ($100MM to $1B)" award in The M&A Advisor's 17th Annual Turnaround Awards. The Turnaround Awards recognize the "leading distressed M&A transactions, restructuring, refinancing, products and services, firms, and dealmakers."
“We are honored to be recognized by M&A Advisor for our team’s work and success on behalf of our clients,” said Lawrence Flick, Partner and Chair of Blank Rome’s Financial Services industry group. “As our growing national finance practice continues to handle complex financial transactions for our clients across diverse industries and geographic markets, we are committed to developing successful, strategic solutions that both meet and exceed our clients’ needs.”
Blank Rome received the Restructuring of the Year award for the firm's success in serving as legal counsel to the agent, lead arranger, book runner, syndication agent, and lenders in connection with the $185 million ABL credit facility for Detroit Manufacturing Systems and certain affiliated companies. The Blank Rome team was instrumental in documenting and negotiating the transaction, navigating the unique industry challenges impacting Detroit Manufacturing Systems, and shepherding the transaction to a successful closing. The Blank Rome team was led by Harris J. Diamond, Andrew J. White, and Cameron Purcell.
Blank Rome was also honored with the Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year award for the firm's success in representing the agent and lender in providing exit financing from Chapter 11 for U.S. Tobacco Cooperative Inc. and several of its affiliates and subsidiaries. The exit financing consisted of a $110 million ABL facility, with a $25 million export-import sub-facility, and a $20 million term loan. In successfully closing the transaction, the Blank Rome team performed substantial due diligence on the litigation, treatment of claimants under the plan of reorganization, and likelihood of similar claims arising in the future. The Blank Rome team was led by Lawrence Flick, Kevin M. O’Malley, and Morgan E. Landy.
The award winners were recognized at a gala event on March 22, 2023, in Palm Beach, Florida, as part of M&A Advisor's 2023 Distressed Investing Summit.
