Ballard Spahr was named to BTI Consulting’s list of “Intimidating Opponents: The Most Feared Law Firms in Litigation” and was ranked among the top firms poised to help clients go beyond the challenges they are likely to face in the coming year, according to the organization’s Litigation Outlook 2024 report.

The report, “Navigating Litigation Spending in the New Unpredictable World,” notes that law firm clients face record levels of cases and are hiring firms that provide legal project management; swift assessment of the matter at hand, even in its nascent stages; and an ability to mount an aggressive defense while simultaneously contemplating settlement, among other attributes.

“BTI underscores what our clients already know: Ballard is ready to help clients exceed their business goals, even as they face ever-evolving and complex challenges,” said Litigation Department Chair Jason A. Leckerman. “We have a deep bench of industry-focused litigators who never lose sight of our clients’ priorities. We work tirelessly to achieve their goals at every stage, in every type of dispute.”

Ballard Spahr was recognized among the top 3 percent of firms for intellectual property litigation, the top 6 percent of firms for cybersecurity litigation, and the top 7 percent of firms for class action litigation. The firm’s capabilities in employment law and commercial litigation, in particular complex matters, also were singled out as standard-bearers.

With more than 250 attorneys in 15 U.S. offices, Litigation is the largest department at Ballard Spahr. Its attorneys represent clients nationwide in a wide range of civil, criminal, and administrative matters. It has an outstanding track record of success in state and federal trial courts, appellate courts, administrative agencies, and arbitration forums.

The firm’s Intellectual Property attorneys help clients across industries to identify, protect, license, and monetize their IP assets. Firm clients range from start-ups to some of the world’s most recognizable brands. Ballard Spahr’s IP litigators are a force in the courtroom, handling cases involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, and advertising.

“Our history of success is rooted in our approach. Ballard litigators emphasize strategic and creative thinking, efficiency, and hard work to resolve complex cases at trial and out of court.” said Intellectual Property Department Chair Lynn E. Rzonca. “Across the country, from the courtroom to the boardroom, our litigators excel.”

BTI compiled its Litigation Outlook following 280 interviews with legal decision-makers at organizations with an average revenue of $22.6 billion. The interviewees came from more than 15 industry segments, including banking, financial services, health care, and professional services.
