HARRISBURG - An employee of York County's 911 call center says she was first harassed, then fired for filing a complaint.

York County is facing a lawsuit filed by Jo Ann Probst, a former employee of the York County Department of Emergency Services 911 Center. Probst alleges that she was unjustly terminated from her position after reporting a hostile work environment based on sex.

The suit, filed Dec. 21 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, also names Matthew Hobson, the Director of the Center, and Christopher Lorenzen, the Deputy Director, as defendants.

Probst claims that after she reported the hostile work environment to an investigator in summer 2021, Hobson and Lorenzen engaged in a series of actions that negatively impacted her work environment. These actions included removing her from leadership roles, changing her schedule at short notice, denying her previously scheduled time off for medical appointments and ultimately firing her for actions she did not commit.

The lawsuit alleges that these actions were discriminatory and retaliatory in nature. Probst is seeking remedies for lost earning capacity, lost pay, compensatory damages, and emotional distress.

Probst is represented by Sharon R. López of Triquetra Law.
