PITTSBURGH - The maker of a heating pad faces a Pittsburgh lawsuit that claims it severely burned a customer.
A lawsuit was recently filed against Hangzhou Lanku Technology Co. Ltd., a foreign limited liability company doing business as "SeptyWarm." The plaintiff, Tracy Brooks, represented by attorney Michael Balzarini, has lodged the complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County.
Brooks says she was using the heating pad in August to alleviate back pain at night.
"(T)he plaintiff's body was unexpectedly subjected to sufficiently high temperatures generated by the defendant's heating pad to cause the plaintiff to sustain a large third-degree burn to the buttocks and left hip area..." the suit says.
Brooks says she was using the pad in the manner it was intended but was burned nonetheless.
