Jennifer W. Cheng and Susan Nieto, partners in Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group, have both been recognized by Mergers & Acquisitions in its 2024 Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A list. Cheng, who also serves as U.S. vice-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Corporate Group and chair of the firm’s Global M&A team, was among 16 honorees named as influential women, and Nieto was among 15 women to receive honorable mention accolades.

In its ninth year, Mergers & Acquisitions Most Influential Women in Mid-Market M&A award recognizes “exceptional women who excel and hold influential positions in the dealmaking community.” Honorees represent women leaders in private equity, law, accounting, consulting and investment banking.

Cheng, who is based in Reed Smith’s New York office, represents Fortune 500, international and middle market companies in a wide range of corporate transactions both domestic and cross-border, including take privates, public and private mergers, asset and stock acquisitions and divestitures, auctions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, private equity investments and distress and bankruptcy related acquisitions and divestitures. This is the second time Cheng has been honored by Mergers and Acquisitions, having made the most influential women list in 2022.

Based in the firm’s Philadelphia office, Nieto’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions involving public and private companies, private equity, SPACs, joint ventures and cross-border transactions. She has advised on transactions across multiple industries, including consumer goods, digital media, professional services, health care supply chain and transportation. She also represents portfolio company clients in connection with general corporate and commercial matters.
