PHILADELPHIA - A former employee of Delaware County is alleging gender discrimination in a recently filed federal lawsuit.
A lawsuit was filed Jan. 15 against Delaware County by Franklin Fitzgerald Jr., alleging violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act. The case, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, accuses the county government of unlawfully terminating Fitzgerald's employment.
Fitzgerald, who served as a Purchasing Agent for Delaware County, alleges that he was subjected to hostility and a hostile work environment due to his gender under the supervision of Lisa L. Jackson, Director of Central Purchasing.
The plaintiff alleges that Jackson treated him rudely and condescendingly, was overly aggressive towards him, selectively enforced policies against him, created false narratives to discipline him, belittled him, attacked his character without reason and made unprofessional and discriminatory comments towards him.
Fitzgerald had lodged complaints with the Human Resources department but to no avail, the suit says. He resigned Sept. 3.
