PHILADELPHIA - Exercise ended in injury, a federal lawsuit against Bowflex alleges.

Bowflex, Inc., formerly known as Nautilus, Inc., is facing a lawsuit filed by Kylie Kimmel filed Jan. 18 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The plaintiff alleges that the company's Bowflex Ultimate 2 Home Gym, which she claims has been subject to three separate recalls involving four different defects since 2006, caused her significant bodily harm and injury. One of these defects involves the machine's horizontal seat rail which can fall unexpectedly on users and bystanders if not manually latched.

The plaintiff alleges that this defect resulted in serious head injuries for her in January 2022. Despite knowing about these defects, the defendant continued to sell the product without warning consumers about the risks or pulling the defective home gym systems off the market, the suit claims.

The plaintiff is represented by Benjamin Present of Kline & Specter, P.C., plus lawyers at Johnson Becker.
