WILLIAMSPORT - An employee describing themselves as a gender non-conforming lesbian has sued Microtech Knives, claiming sabotage and discrimination forced her to quit.

Microtech Knives, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based corporation, is facing a lawsuit filed by an employee identified as Jane Doe. The case was filed Feb. 7 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Jane Doe, represented by her counsel Justin Robinette, alleges that Microtech Knives violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The complaint suggests that Ms. Doe experienced harassment and a hostile work environment based on her sexual orientation and/or sex. It is believed that she was the only openly LGBTQIA+ employee at Microtech Knives.

Ms. Doe alleges that her coworkers laughed when she came out as lesbian and gender non-conforming to them.

One employee would switch the tags Doe put on parts so that they would be wrong, the suit says. After reporting it, the employee "shoulder-checked and hurt Plaintiff in front of several male employees, on account of discrimination, and in retaliation for Plaintiff's complaints," the suit says.

Doe complained on Nov. 10, 2023, and claims she was forced to quit.
