Marcia Kelson leads the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation team in the Firm's Pittsburgh Office. She is a go-to deal advisor for a wide range of public, private, and non-profit clients in Pittsburgh and throughout the world. She advises on benefits and compensation issues in all types of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, spinoffs, private equity investments, financings and IPOs. Ms. Kelson focuses on complex benefit and compensation matters, including those arising in connection with employee transitions, pension de-risking, and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). With nearly 22 years of experience, she has counseled hundreds of plan sponsors, fiduciaries, and administrators on legal issues pertinent to employee benefit plans and the entities that maintain them.
Best Law Firm Mentor – Michael Ginsberg
Mike Ginsberg is a partner in the Insurance Recovery Practice in Pittsburgh who represents policyholders in disputes with insurance companies regarding coverage for product and environmental liabilities, toxic torts, and bad faith. He also assists clients with the evaluation and management of asbestos liabilities.
The Legal Intelligencer Best Law Firm Mentor award recognizes more senior lawyers "who have taken it upon themselves to prepare the next generation of legal talent." Mr. Ginsberg served as Firm Training Partner and Chair of the Firm's Associate Training Committee for almost 30 years. For Jones Day's Laredo Project—a program providing migrants legal representation at the U.S.-Mexico border—he created a series of training materials for lawyers representing immigration clients, and he continues to coach trial teams in advance of their immigration hearings to assist them with their presentations on behalf of the clients. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) for more than 20 years and serves as the Program Director for NITA's Pittsburgh and North Carolina Trial Programs. He has also traveled to Kenya seven times to teach trial skills to Kenyan lawyers in connection with NITA and Lawyers Without Borders.
The Legal Intelligencer's Professional Excellence Awards annually honor law firms and lawyers in Pennsylvania who have made a significant, positive impact on the legal profession. The winners will be announced at The Legal Intelligencer's awards dinner on May 15.
