Cozen O’Connor is pleased to announce that Jeremy Garvey, co-chair of the firm’s Capital Markets & Securities Group, has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association’s (PVCA) Impact Award. This award celebrates individuals who have helped to foster and grow the venture community in Western Pennsylvania. Garvey was recognized at the PVCA’s 29th Annual Awards Dinner on April 17, 2024.
Garvey focuses his practice on securities-related transactions and corporate governance, particularly with the organization, funding, and continued representation of emerging growth technology companies and venture firms, as well as private capital financings and public offerings. Garvey’s experience with venture capital and emerging companies spans a number of diverse sectors, from life sciences to fintech, emphasizing his commitment to the growth of the venture/early-stage community in the Pittsburgh region. His work with public companies and capital markets includes clients in a variety of industries, including issuers in sectors such as aviation, manufacturing, technology, financial institutions and consumer products and retail.
Garvey has been recognized for a number of accolades in his nearly three decades of practice. He has been ranked by Chambers and Partners USA since 2019. He has also been included in the Best Lawyers list for 18 years and named “Lawyer of the Year - Venture Capital Law” in Pittsburgh in 2024 and 2021 by Best Lawyers. He also was named “Lawyer of the Year - Corporate Law” in Pittsburgh, Best Lawyers in 2019, “Lawyer of the Year - Securities/Capital Markets Law” in Pittsburgh, Best Lawyers in 2024, 2022 and 2014 and “Lawyer of the Year - Mergers & Acquisitions Law” in Pittsburgh, Best Lawyers in 2011. Garvey was a founder of and a member of the board of directors of Othot, a cloud-based predictive analytics company in the higher education industry, prior to its sale to Liaison International in 2021.
In 2017 Garvey, along with Tom and Gene Giotto were the founding and creating members of Cozen O’Connor’s Pittsburgh office.
The PVCA was founded in 1982 to catalyze venture investment and entrepreneurialism in Western Pennsylvania. It is the most prominent voice for venture investors in the Mid-Atlantic region, serving as a major advocate for the venture capital industry and recognizing impactful individuals in the community annually.
