Diane Hendricks has filed a negligence complaint against PillPack, LLC and PillPack by Amazon Pharmacy. The complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on May 24, 2024. Hendricks alleges that the defendants improperly ceased delivery of her heart medication without notice or approval.

According to the court documents, Diane Hendricks, a resident of Shamokin, PA, began receiving dofetilide from PillPack's delivery program no later than July 2021. This service is described as a full-service pharmacy that sorts medications by dose and delivers them directly to customers' doors. However, in April 2022, PillPack stopped delivering her prescribed medication without informing her. Hendricks did not realize she was missing one of her pills until June 8, 2022, when she received a call from PillPack’s billing department about a declined credit card charge.

Hendricks then spoke with a pharmacist who advised her to take any remaining doses she had and promised to call in a prescription for pickup at her local pharmacy. Unfortunately, due to the nature of dofetilide, resuming the medication after such an interruption was deemed too dangerous. On June 10, 2022, while out with her grandson, Hendricks experienced syncope that escalated into a cardiac event requiring emergency room treatment and defibrillation.

The plaintiff contends that this incident led to multiple hospitalizations and has since required daily assistance from family members. Additionally, she can no longer use dofetilide and must rely on a less effective medication for her heart condition.

The lawsuit accuses PillPack and its associated entities of several counts of negligence: failing to continue delivery of the medication; failing to inform Hendricks timely about the cessation; not taking necessary steps to contact her or secure approval from her doctor for changing vendors; and failing to address payment issues adequately. These actions allegedly caused significant harm to Hendricks’ health and quality of life.

Hendricks seeks damages exceeding $75,000 exclusive of interests and costs. She demands judgment against all named defendants for their roles in causing her injuries through alleged negligence.

Representing Diane Hendricks is R.J. Marzella & Associates, P.C., while the case will be presided over by Judge Matthew W. Brann under Case ID 4:24-cv-00860-MWB.
