PHILADELPHIA - A man whose son went to a spin class has filed a lawsuit that alleges the strap on his foot came undone, causing his ankle to break.

A lawsuit was filed May 31 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania by M.K., a minor, through his guardian Michael Kurhan, II, and individually by Michael Kurhan, III.

The plaintiffs are suing Life Time, a fitness corporation headquartered in Chanhassen, Minnesota, over an incident that occurred on July 9, 2022.

The complaint alleges that during a spin class at Life Time's Wayne location, M.K.'s feet were improperly strapped to the bike pedals by the instructor. This negligence resulted in M.K. sustaining a fractured ankle when the strap came undone mid-class, the suit says.

The lawsuit claims that Life Time failed to adequately train and supervise its employees and did not properly maintain or inspect its equipment. As a result of these failures, M.K. suffered serious injuries causing pain and suffering, mental anguish, and significant medical expenses, the suit says.
