PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia law firm faces a wrongful termination lawsuit from a former employee who complained he wasn't given more time to complete tasks despite his disability.

A John Doe filed a lawsuit June 11 in Philadelphia federal court against Kaufman Dolowich LLP, alleging disability discrimination, failure to provide reasonable accommodations, and retaliation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA).

The plaintiff claims that despite his positive performance reviews and contributions to the firm, his requests for accommodations due to his Sensorineural Hearing Loss and Auditory Processing Disorder were denied.

Following these denials, he faced increased criticism and eventual termination, the suit claims. His Nov. 30, 2022, performance review urged the firm to do more to make attorneys with disabilities feel valued.

He was fired a week later because a recruiter had sent his resume to Kaufman. But he claims another lawyer had the same thing happen but she was not fired.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney's fees, and other relief.

Briana Lynn Pearson of Law Offices of Eric A. Shore represents the plaintiff.
