John A. Nixon practices in the area of employee benefits and executive compensation and is a member of the firm’s governing Partners Board. He represents senior executives, retirement plan sponsors and product providers in a range of matters including executive employment, compensation and separation negotiations, federal tax compliance and fiduciary duties under ERISA and state laws. Nixon is listed in Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America (ERISA and Executive Compensation). He is a member of the Executive Leadership Counsel and the National Association of Corporate Directors. In 2022-2023, Nixon served as President of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys. He currently serves on the Board of MMBB Financial Services and as an Executive in Residence at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies.
Joseph K. West is an experienced trial lawyer, former Associate General Counsel at Walmart Stores Inc. and former CEO of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. In 2019, he was named the inaugural recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Equity and Inclusion by Chambers & Partners. He currently serves as Duane Morris’ Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and leads the firm’s first-of-its-kind Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consulting Practice, which he helped to establish. He also serves as a member of Duane Morris’ managing Partners Board and co-chairs the firm’s ESG task force. A partner in the firm's Trial Practice Group, West practices in the area of complex litigation, handling a variety of matters in areas including class actions, insurance, commercial litigation, zoning and land use, catastrophic injury, products liability, and labor and employment. West is a May 2024 inductee of the Tulane Law School Hall of Fame. He was previously recognized by Savoy Magazine in their 2018 Most Influential Black Lawyers list.
