PITTSBURGH - A York man says he was injured playing soccer at Carnegie Mellon University and is suing the school.

A lawsuit was recently filed in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County by Maxwell Lohss against Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).

The plaintiff alleges that CMU's negligence in the construction and maintenance of a drainage system on its soccer field led to his severe injuries. On August 19, 2023, while playing soccer, Lohss slipped on the drainage system and sustained multiple injuries, including a right trimalleolar ankle fracture requiring surgeries.

The complaint claims that CMU was aware of the hazardous conditions created by the drainage system but failed to address them.

Lohss seeks compensatory and punitive damages for his pain, suffering, medical expenses, and impaired future earning capacity.

Drew Rummel of The Rummel Firm represents the plaintiff.
