Anthony Vale, a fellow of The Pepper Center for Public Service, has been named a 2024 Pro Bono Champion by the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Founded in 1946, AILA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, voluntary bar association that provides continuing legal education, professional services, information, and expertise to more than 16,000 attorneys who practice and teach immigration law.
AILA Pro Bono Champion honorees epitomize the values and mission of AILA, demonstrating exemplary leadership and dedication in advancing justice for underserved immigrant populations. Vale is specifically recognized for his extensive work with the Nationalities Service Center and other Pennsylvania organizations, including HIAS PA, PIRC, and private AILA attorneys.
As a Pepper Center fellow, Vale regularly represents noncitizens in immigration proceedings. In this capacity, nonprofit agencies representing noncitizens in immigration proceedings often turn to him for assistance. Working with associates in the firm, Vale has represented men, women, and children from numerous countries in immigration court, before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and in the federal courts of appeals.
